The otter population is increasing in the Lessebo river water system. During the 20th century the Swedish otter population in general declined greatly due to human activity.

But for some decades improved water quality, due to a sharp decline of toxic emissions like PCB and a total ban on hunting, the otter populations are increasing.

The Otter has now repopulated the Lessebo water systems and we are very happy that otters thrive in the neighborhood of our mill together with other closely related species like the polecat.
